Abstract

Both neighbouring ancient civilisations of India and China claim that their historical origins date back over eight thousand or five thousand years respectively. Giver their geographical proximity, particularly Tibet and Western regions bordering India, there must have been some unrecorded early contact between them. These initial interactions were likely facilitated by camel convoys and other forms of travel, which enabled trade, communications and mutual understanding. This in turn extended to the imperial court in China. The cultural fusion that shaped the distinct identities of these two ancient civilisations has been a long and natural process.
