Historia Augusta
Abstract
This chapter presents the Life of Hadrian from the Historia Augusta , a late fourth-century collection of imperial biographies likely written by a single author around 395 ce . Attributed to six supposed writers but now understood as an ancient literary forgery, the work combines authentic material with fabricated documents and invented names. Modeled on Suetonius, the Life of Hadrian is among the most reliable sections and preserves valuable evidence about the emperor and his reign.
