Abstract

[EN] Green transition aims to balance economic growth with planetary ecological limits. This chapter approaches the training of future teachers in the culture of degrowth, and the need to provide them with tools and strategies to educate future generations and promote a fair and sustainable economic and social system. This chapter examines the training provided by a Faculty of Education at a Spanish university for students pursuing degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as the Master’s degree in Secondary Education. The methodology of critical discourse analysis(CDA) was used alongside qualitative research methods. The results indicate that both the teaching guides and the teaching practices mention the term “sustainable development” within the context of a capitalist logic of unlimited growth. However, the culture of degrowth and the critique of the underlying structural economic system are still absent. The conclusions reveal a contradiction regarding the dual mission of the university.
