Abstract

What is already known about this topic?: Influenza poses a substantial health risk to children. Despite being an effective preventive intervention, influenza vaccine coverage among children in China remains low. What is added by this report?: This study identified factors associated with caregiver decisions on pediatric influenza vaccination. A child's prior influenza vaccination and caregivers' close contacts being vaccinated were positively associated with uptake. Concerns about vaccine efficacy were key barrier among caregivers who declined vaccination. What are the implications for public health practice?: The findings inform interventions to improve childhood influenza vaccination and strengthen prevention and control efforts.
