Comparison Between the Epilepsy Treatment Watch Case Study and Other Epilepsy Diagnostics
Abstract
Epilepsy is a disorder in the brain's electrical activity, affecting about 3.4 million people in the United States across all ages.It can cause symptoms ranging from brief lapses of attention to severe convulsions, impacting quality of life, mental health, and social interactions.Early detection and continuous monitoring are crucial to preventing severe episodes and reducing emergency interventions.Additionally, integrating wearable technology with AI can provide personalized insights into seizure patterns, improving patient management. There is a need for a better understanding of its genetic and molecular bases, more precise diagnostic, and treatments that effectively control seizures with fewer side effects. This paper presents an artificial intelligence system integrated into a smart medical watch capable of alerting patients, families and physicians before, during, and after seizures via a smartphone application. The watch monitors heart rate, blood pressure, and hormonerelated changes, provides patient location through GIS, and can wirelessly stimulate the brain with electrical pulses as a therapeutic invention.By combining accurate monitoring, alerts, and therapeutic stimulation, this wearable technology addresses key gaps in epilepsy care.
