Abstract

This study aims to investigate the causes and countermeasures for the performancedegradation of the Oily Water Separator (OWS) system on board the MT. Vivit Africa LNG. Theresearch employs a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, documentation, andliterature review. The findings indicate that the decline in OWS performance is caused by amalfunctioning bilge circulating pump, contaminated fluid quality, suboptimal electric heatertemperature, and delays in spare parts replacement. The impacts include reduced pump pressure, sludge accumulation, and potential operational disruptions. Countermeasures taken include pumprepairs, cleaning of filters and heaters, and improvement in spare parts logistics management. Thestudy recommends preventive maintenance, regulation of pump operations, and real-timemonitoring to maintain the efficiency and safety of the OWS system.
