Abstract

This article examines the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence-Augmented Evidence Systems (AIES) in strengthening accreditation, assessment, governance, and institutional effectiveness in higher education. As universities face increasing demands for accountability, workforce alignment, equity monitoring, and regulatory compliance, AI-supported evidence systems offer new opportunities to integrate curriculum management, assessment analytics, candidate progression tracking, and accreditation reporting within unified institutional frameworks. The article examines the core components of AIES, including curriculum alignment, policy tracking, assessment calibration, and continuous improvement processes. Illustrative examples drawn from educator preparation, workforce credentialing, nursing, and other regulated professional programs demonstrate how AI-supported evidence systems can preserve accreditation integrity while improving transparency, accountability, and access for diverse student populations. The discussion further explores governance, transparency, ethical safeguards, and the importance of maintaining faculty oversight within AI-supported environments. The article concludes by proposing a practical framework for sustainable, human-centered accreditation systems that balance technological innovation, institutional accountability, and organizational learning.
