Tubuh yang Diselamatkan
Abstract
This article reflects on the meaning of Christian salvation from the perspective of orthodox soteriology by positioning women's bodies as a significant ethical-theological locus in the context of gender-based violence in East Nusa Tenggara. Employing a contextual critical theological hermeneutic approach, this study uses Dietrich Bonhoeffer's ethics of responsibility as the primary lens. Women's bodies are understood as reality at stake in the relationship of faith; thus, practices of violence, exploitation, and human trafficking constitute a theological crisis demanding a responsible faith response. Feminism is positioned as a limited lens for ethical concern in reading experiences of suffering, without being made the dogmatic foundation of soteriology. In dialogue with the socio-cultural reality of NTT, this article affirms that violence against women's bodies is related to asymmetrical power relations, structural poverty, and distortion of social values. Grounded in the concept of imago Dei, salvation is understood as God's work that restores human dignity and relationships holistically and calls the church to be responsibly present amid the reality of structural violence.
