Abstract

This study aimed to apply and compare a pediatric nursing education program for gastroenteritis using virtual simulation for nursing college students based on their knowledge of pediatric care, problem solving process, and clinical practice ability.Nursing students who participated in this study were divided into experimental and control groups. The subjects in the control group received only High-fidelity simulation education, and the experimental group received simulation and pediatric nursing education program for gastroenteritis using virtual simulation to observe the differences in their knowledge of pediatric care, problem solving process, and clinical practice ability. This study used a non-equivalent control pre-post design, and the data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 30.0.The general characteristics, values, percentages, and standard deviations were analyzed. In addition, the subject's homogeneity and hypotheses were analyzed with χ² and t-tests.The pediatric nursing education program for gastroenteritis using virtual simulation for nursing college students was provided for 2weeks(Total 240min) per student. The results indicated that the differences in knowledge of pediatric care(t=2.381,p= .019)and problem solving process(t=2.284,p= .031)for virtual simulation education were significant differences but clinical practice ability(t=1.711,p= .110)was not significant difference. Therefore, the pediatric nursing education program for gastroenteritis using virtual simulation for nursing college students positively affected student's knowledge of pediatric care, problem solving process.
