Abstract

Objective: The implementation of Green Office practices at PT PGN (Perusahaan Gas Negara/National Gas Company) Tbk Semarang Area is explored with a focus on the roles of work culture and employee education in promoting environmentally sustainable behavior. Therefore, this study aimed to assess how internal cultural values and training efforts shape green initiatives in the company. Theoretical Framework: This study was based on several interrelated main theories to explain the implementation of Green Office through a work culture and education in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) method in an organizational environment, particularly at PT PGN Tbk Semarang Area. The theoretical frameworks used were Organizational Behavior Theory, Sustainable Management Theory, and Green Office Concept. To ensure the successful implementation of green office practices, there was a need to carry out regular monitoring and evaluation of both work culture and employee education programs. Method: A descriptive qualitative method was adopted, supported by interviews, observations, document analysis, and a structured questionnaire including 12 employees. Results and Discussion: The questionnaire results showed that 83% of employees regularly practice environmentally responsible behaviors. Approximately91% acknowledged that environmental training had increased awareness of sustainable practices. Furthermore, 92% agreed that the office promoted a culture consistent with environmental responsibility, and leadership was rated highly in modeling green behavior. Research Implications: The results of this study could serve as a reference for other organizations that wish to implement a green office with a similar method, particularly through behavioral changes and the adoption of a green work culture. Originality/Value: Combining two important methods, work culture and education in the implementation of the Green Office concept, which has rarely been discussed simultaneously in previous studies, especially in the context of energy companies in Indonesia such as PT PGN Tbk.
