Study of Community Participation and Readiness of Small Island Resources as a Marine Tourist Destination (Study Case: Barrang Caddi Island, Spermonde, South Sulawesi)
Abstract
Small islands represent distinct regions characterized by unique ecosystems and specific community conditions. This study seeks to assess the preparedness of the community and resources on small islands, with a particular focus on Barrang Caddi Island in the Spermonde Archipelago, South Sulawesi. The research was conducted from April to August, employing methods such as location surveys, focus group discussions, and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that the culture of mutual assistance, openness, friendliness, and politeness serves as a significant catalyst for the development of tourism potential on Barrang Caddi Island. The island's environmental cleanliness, well-maintained village facilities, infrastructure, communication services, and white sandy beaches are notable attractions. The cultural potential, supported by the community's strong commitment and the pristine beach environment, positions Barrang Caddi Island as a promising tourism destination.
