Pengembangan Aplikasi Desktop Presensi Siswa Berbasis IoT Menggunakan RFID
Abstract
Student attendance recording in schools is still largely done manually, causing various problems such as delays in data recapitulation, input errors, and low accuracy of attendance information, which impacts the administrative monitoring and student discipline evaluation processes. In addition, manual systems make it difficult for schools to provide attendance reports quickly and consistently. This study aims to design and develop a desktop-based attendance application integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) devices using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and ease of monitoring student attendance data. The system development method used is the Waterfall model, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, integration, and testing. The IoT device was built using a microcontroller programmed through Arduino IDE to read RFID cards and automatically send attendance data to the desktop application. The desktop application was developed using Visual Basic on Visual Studio and connected to the Supabase cloud database for centralized storage, real-time data synchronization, and easy data access by school administrators. The analysis techniques used included functional testing of the system and usability evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method, as well as field trials in a school environment. The results of the study showed that the integrated IoT-desktop attendance system was able to reduce attendance recording time, minimize manual input errors, and improve the accuracy, availability, and reliability of student attendance data.
