Utilization of Dietary Inclusion Maggot (Hermetia illucens) and Corn on the Nutrient Utility, Organs Index, Performance, Meat Quality and Economic Value of FinisherStage Native Chicken
Abstract
HistoryThis study aims to examine the effects of various levels of Maggot and Corn Meal (MCM) inclusion in the feed on nutrient utilization, organ indices, performance, meat quality, and the economic value of native chickens during the finisher phase. The study employed a Completely Randomized Design, with 200 native chicken DOCs divided into four groups, each with five replications. The first group received 100% basal feed (T0).The second group received 95% basal feed and 5% MCM (T1); the third group, 90% basal feed and 10% MCM (T2); and the fourth group, 85% basal feed and 15% MCM (T3).The results showed that first group had the best outcomes in nutrient utilization, organ index, and duodenal and ileal villi height parameters, as well as performance and IOFC value. The study concludes that native chickens can tolerate feed containing MCM, but its inclusion should be limited to 5%.Using MCM levels above this leads to decreased nutrient utilization, organ index development, performance, and economic value.
