Dr. Stone-Themed Digital Escape Rooms as Supplementary Tool in Teaching Heat and Work for Grade 9 Science
Abstract
This study aimed to improve the academic performance and gather the perceptions of the students through the incorporation of the Dr. Stone-themed digital escape rooms in teaching Heat and Work. The study was conducted with 50 Grade 9 students from Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur. Relevant data were obtained using the adopted pre- and posttest questionnaires from the DepEd Grade 9 Science module and perception questionnaire. The data were analyzed and interpreted using mean score and Levels of Proficiency from DepEd Order No. 31, series of 2012. The findings indicate that the Dr. Stone-themed digital escape rooms significantly improved the Grade 9 students’ academic performance. Following the implementation, the results from the perception questionnaire revealed positive responses from the students, which matched the verbal interpretations of “Agree” and “Strongly Agree.” The results suggest that the students had demonstrated favorable viewpoints regarding their experience with the Dr. Stone- themed digital escape rooms. Furthermore, the findings imply that the escape rooms are an effective supplementary tool for enhancing students’ academic performance and can serve as a useful learning resource in teaching Heat and Work. The incorporation of the material into the teaching and learning processes can effectively help students apply their knowledge and improve their understanding of the topic.
