Intellectual Capital: Transforming Senses into Opportunities
Abstract
In today's fast-paced and unpredictable world, the ability to sense and shape opportunities has become essential for organizations striving to achieve strategic agility and sustainable success.Intellectual capital comprising domain knowledge, formal knowledge, management experience, and intrinsic motivation and creativity offers powerful tools for navigating these challenges, yet its precise influence remains underexplored.Grounded in the Knowledge-Based View (KBV) of the firm, this study investigates how these dimensions enable businesses to anticipate, adapt to, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.Drawing on data from 200 entrepreneurs, this research uncovers key insights into the mechanisms through which intellectual capital fuels opportunity sensing and shaping. While domain knowledge, formal knowledge, and intrinsic motivation emerge as critical drivers, the findings also challenge traditional assumptions about the role of management experience. These discoveries illuminate a new pathway for organizations to unlock the transformative potential of intellectual capital.By bridging theoretical gaps and offering actionable strategies, this study provides fresh perspectives for leaders seeking to thrive in dynamic environments. For researchers and practitioners alike, it highlights the pivotal role of intellectual capital in shaping the future of competitive organizations, making this work both timely and inspiring.
