Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of game-based learning (GBL) as an assessment tool in Mathematics education. Specifically, it seeks to identify the commonly used game-based learning tools, determine their frequency of usage, examine their level of effect on teaching and learning, and identify the constraints encountered by teachers in using GBL as an assessment strategy. The study will be conducted at Baguio Central University, Baguio City, and involves thirty (30) teachers currently taking the Master of Arts in Mathematics program. A descriptive research design with a quantitative approach will be employed. Data will be gathered through an adapted and self-made questionnaire. The collected data will be treated using frequency, weighted mean, and ranking for analysis and interpretation. Findings of the study are expected to provide useful insights into how game-based learning is utilized as an assessment tool in Mathematics classrooms. The results may help teachers improve their assessment practices, enhance student engagement, and address challenges encountered in using game-based strategies. Furthermore, the study may serve as a reference for school administrators, future researchers, and educators who aim to integrate innovative and engaging assessment methods in Mathematics instruction.
