Nuevos derroteros del espacio autobiográfico trans: apuntes para un panorama mexicano

A contemporary interest about trans memory has generated, among other manifestations, an autobiographical space (Arfuch) where we find three recently published books: Crucé la frontera en tacones. Crónica de una TRANSgresora by Alexandra R. DeRuiz (2023), Transporte a la infancia by Frida Cartas (2023) and Entre azul y buenas noches. Autobiografía by Samantha Flores (Antoine Rodríguez coauthor) (2024). This article offers a panoramic contribution to the topic of trans memory. It conceives these autobiographies as exercises in self-figuration, that is, as the creative elaboration of a self-image that creates a subject for the public sphere in a specific sociocultural context. To this end, the article first establishes some coordinates of the autobiographical space as conditions of emergence of the corpus. It then highlights the diegesis, the trans self's motives for becoming public, and the formulation of a recipient. Finally, the text explores how the representation of identity in these books reflects a turning point in trans politicization compared to previous autobiographies.
