AERO-RISK: The effect of practice on skill-based risk taking.
Abstract
This project investigates the relationship between skill uncertainty and risk-taking behavior using a behavioral economics experiment. Participants (N=128) are invited to throw a paper plane at a target for a monetary incentive, choosing their own distance (risk level). We collect data on: Experimental conditions: Assignment to Control (no practice) or Treatment (3 practice throws).Behavioral metrics: Chosen distance in cm (Dependent Variable) and outcome (success/failure).Demographics: Age, gender, and previous experience with precision sports. The data is being collected to test the hypothesis that reducing uncertainty through practice increases the willingness to take risks. The dataset will be anonymized and published in Zenodo to ensure reproducibility.
