Abstract

This dataset contains research data and related materials for the PhD project titled “Family Size and Parent Care.” This project investigates how the number of children affects two aspects of family functioning in later life: (1) parents’ receipt of care, including the number of child caregivers and the likelihood of receiving care; and (2) adult children’s care provision and caregiving experiences. The dataset includes: (1) analytical code for the quantitative part of the project; and (2) data and coding for the qualitative part of the project, including audio recordings, interview transcripts in Chinese and English, data coding files created in NVivo, interview outlines, sample informed consent forms, and other relevant documents. The raw data were collected in mainland China between June and October 2023. Publications resulting from this project are available at: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=r1t0aJMAAAAJ&hl=en
