Foiled For Choice - Heating Experiment Carbon Calculator

This calculator tool accompanies the publication Foiled for Choice: Carbon Impact Assessment of Laboratory Heating Setups and Insulation Strategies. It allows for multiple variables in the heating set up to be modified and compared at the same time showing the carbon impact of the choices for different heating media, both with and without foil. Variables include the number of uses per lifetime, the use of foil, the number of reuses, the number of reaction repeats, the reaction time, weight of foil and aluminium block and the oil changes per lifetime. It is hoped that using the reported reaction set up as a guide, other users can use this tool to assess the relative impact of their reaction setup decisions.
