Abstract

IE TCD MS 9376/1042: Letter from Michael Davitt, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, Ireland to W. McCormack dated 29th December 1905 concerning a visit to St. Helens: "I can give you Friday January 5th for St. Helens, and no other date either before or after, as every other day from the fourth to the 13th inclusive, I have given to the Labour Representation Committee, for Labour Candidates in England and Scotland. Wire me at once on receipt of this letter, if the fifth is acceptable or not. No other dates can be even discussed. If this date will do, I will arrive just before the meeting, and must leave immediately after for Manchester. There must be no hospitality, no address, no other kind of meeting, public or private, on my account. I shall be very hard worked, and I must take my own course to obtain all the necessary rest. I will write or wire from Manchester the train I shall arrive by - if the date given is accepted..." Recovered by Mrs. Mary Davitt.
