Abstract

Digitised version of IE TCD MS 7867/103 a letter written by Margaret C. Osgood to her daughter Mary Alden Childers, and her son-in-law Erskine Childers (month/year not identified, but between approximately 1905-1907?): "Your baby boy is very very well. He makes me put my head down on a pillow beside him, I say "Go to sleep, Shut your little eyes". Then he pushes my eyes together. He has seen Rachel & Marjorie stand on their toes in dancing, so he tried to do it yesterday, several times with dire results. He dances now, to the gramophone and if it stops he goes up to it & says please with his precious little hands. I go head Sept 30th to open the house. Grete follows with her children & your baby Oct 2d. Daa Robin Tom Louis & myself go over together, remaining a night in London. I have a theatre party for them all. I remaining at home in digs & having a supper ready for them on their return from the theatre. Please stay 4 weeks in America... Last night Daa Louis & I went to walk for miles... we saw a woman spinning & carding wool. I simply fell in love with the old woman, & the [?] of it all. She asked me who Louis was. I said "a relation of mine". She said he has the Barton jaw. Rather hard on him Daa says. Love to you all, plus Frank. Why can't I say Frank or Franky or something?"
