Abstract

IE TCD MS 9376/1036: Letter from Michael Davitt, St. Justin's, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, Ireland to Reverend John Roche Ardill dated 2nd April 1905 thanking him for his notes on Irish history: "I beg to thank you very much, for sending me what you modestly call your notes on the unforgotten facts of Irish History. I have read the manuscript right through and found it most interesting and instructive. I feel strongly that it ought to be published. You show me an admirable temper in your treatment of the whole subject while manifesting a broad and liberal sympathy with Ireland and Irishmen, which will I feel sure, be appreciated by all Celtic Catholics. Some such work is called for in the interests of truth, and possibily the publication of a small work like this, by you, will act as a suggestion to others, who may be induced by your example to give us more facts relating to the four first centuries of Ireland's crucifixion between the tyrannies of London and Rome.." Recovered by Mrs. Mary Davitt.
