Abstract

IE TCD MS 9376/1029: Letter from Michael Davitt, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, Ireland to John Ogilvy Esq., Liberal Association Dundee, Scotland, 26th December 1901: "I am very thankful for your kind Christmas greeting and I desire to return it in all its well wishes to yourself and family. The coercion is the [?], is only another instance of the stupid malignity of our English rulers, who can neither rule us, nor let us rule ourselves. But as coercion always serves our cause and injures that of the blatant imperialists who go to war in South Africa, and uphold the right of public meeting, which they put down in Mayo and Birmingham, Mr. Wyndham's duties will be of great service to our movement while they will cover his administration with ridicule..." Recovered by Mrs. Mary Davitt.
