CAMx daily outputs of Temporal Source Apportionment of PM2.5 over Central Europe 2010-2019 [dataset]
Abstract
Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) pollution remains a critical health issue in Central Europe and concentrations frequently exceed WHO guidelines despite some improvements. While numerous studies have quantified the spatial and sectorial sources of urban PM as well as other factors such meteorological driver that contribute to adverse urban PM pollution, the temporal origin, i.e. how much of pollution originates from emissions from previous days has received minimum attention. To address this gap we developed a novel Temporal Source Apportionment approach within the CAMx chemical transport model, driven by WRF meteorology, to quantify the long-term average contributions of emissions from the preceding 14 days to daily average PM concentrations, focusing on the 2010-2019 period and Central Europe. The data published here contain the daily mean concentrations for PM2.5 and its components including the contributions from previous days emissions (up to 1 week), from boundary conditions and from biogenic emissions.
