Abstract

Background and objectives: The rate of cesarean deliveries (CDs) has increased remarkably.Robson's ten-group classification system (RTGS) serves as a framework for auditing and optimal monitoring of CDs.Hence, this study aimed to study the frequency and distribution of CDs in antenatal women classified according to RTGS.Materials and methods: A total of 700 antenatal women were included in this analytical cross-sectional study conducted for eighteen months. The inclusion criteria consisted of all antenatal women admitted to the obstetric ward for delivery and who were willing to provide consent for participation in the study. The data were collected and classified in the Excel sheet as per the RTGS.Results: The number of CD/total women was maximum in group Va (133/133), but the size of each group in percentage was maximum in group I (21.11%).The percentage of CD rate in the group was maximum in groups IIb, IVb, Va, Vb, VI, and IX.The absolute contribution was maximum for group Vb, and the relative contribution to the overall CD rate was maximum in groups Va and X. Conclusion:The study concluded that the number of CDs/total women was maximum in group Va, followed by X, I, IIa, and IIb.The percentage of the CD rate is the maximum number in groups IIb, IVb, Va, Vb, VI, and IX.The absolute contribution was maximum for 5b, and the relative contribution of each group to the overall CD rate was maximum in groups Va and X, with a maximum number of antenatal women belonging to group I of RTGS.
