Abstract

The most frequent cases of postmenopausal bleeding in India are due to cervical carcinoma.Additional frequent causes consist of atrophic vaginitis, endometrial carcinoma, uterine polyps, and fibromas of the uterus.Sex-cord stromal tumors of the ovary are rare causes of postmenopausal bleeding, but nonhormone-producing ovarian tumors causing profuse postmenopausal bleeding are extremely rare.Ovarian fibromas are also rare.We present the case of a 50-year-old woman who had recurrent, profuse postmenopausal bleeding and was diagnosed with an ovarian fibroma.A granulosa cell tumor (GCT) of the ovary was associated with simple endometrial hyperplasia, which is the most frequently observed condition.
