Impact, Collaboration, and Visibility of Scientific Activity on Psoriasis during Pregnancy
Abstract
Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with autoimmune characteristics. However, its study during pregnancy has been scarcely explored from a bibliometric perspective.Aim: To analyze the impact, collaboration, and visibility of scientific activity on psoriasis during pregnancy.Materials and methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted on publications indexed in Scopus regarding psoriasis and pregnancy.Scientific productivity metrics, author impact, journals, institutions, and countries were examined, along with thematic trends through keyword analysis. Results: The United States leads scientific production on psoriasis and pregnancy, with institutions such as the University of California and the University of Manchester playing key roles. However, European institutions like the Karolinska Institutet exhibit a high citation impact.International collaboration is associated with greater impact.International Journal of Women's Dermatology and Cutis are the most relevant journals.Regarding thematic trends, there is a predominant focus on obstetric and neonatal complications, while recent studies have explored aspects such as metabolomics and the use of biologic treatments in psoriasis. Conclusion: Research on psoriasis and pregnancy is expanding, with a predominance of authors and institutions from the United States and Europe.International collaboration remains limited.Emerging approaches include metabolic biomarkers and the safety of biologic treatments, opening new research avenues to improve disease management in pregnant women.
