Fascia Iliaca Block Combined with Femoral Nerve Block for Mid-thigh Graft: A Practical Regional Anesthesia Approach
Abstract
The management of perioperative pain represents a vital need for all lower-limb procedures, especially in cases of mid-thigh graft procedures. The process enables physicians to move their patients earlier, as it reduces the need for opioid medications to produce successful results for doctors and their patients. The application of regional anesthesia to the lumbar plexus is rising in popularity because it provides both secure and conclusive results for lower-extremity surgical procedures. The main techniques for regional anesthesia practice today consist of femoral nerve block (FNB) and fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB).The joint application of FICB and FNB enables substantial postoperative pain reduction during thigh surgeries, particularly those needing skin grafts positioned in the middle part of the thigh.
