Scaling Approach to Running Intensity Thresholds in Youth and Amateur Football
Abstract
High-speed running (HSR) and sprinting are key performance indicators in modern football. While thresholds for elite players are well-documented, these absolute values are often unattainable or inappropriate for youth and amateur players. This study proposes age and gender-specific thresholds derived from a largescale observational database, scaling elite performance volume demands to younger and amateur populations. These thresholds provide a context-sensitive framework for evaluating high-speed and sprint efforts in non-elite populations.
