Fe, conocimiento y revolución: Teólogos, sacerdotes y pastores en las redes de intelectuales en Centroamérica, 1970s–1990s
Abstract
This article explores the integration of theologians, priests, and religious actors into Central American intellectual networks between the 1970s and 1990s, a period defined by intense socio-political conflict and revolutionary movements. These interactions between faith-based and secular scholars fostered a distinctive intellectual space shaped by political engagement and the pursuit of social transformation. Drawing on Marxism, dependency theory, critical structuralism, and liberation theology, participants combined academic inquiry with grassroots activism, informed by popular education, liberation psychology, and liberation philosophy. Based on documentary research and interviews with key actors, the study identifies influential figures and regionally oriented projects. While the anticipated transformations did not fully materialize, these networks left a lasting imprint on academic production, research agendas, and the relationship between critical thought and social praxis in Central America.
