Abstract

Objective: to identify nursing behaviors related to imaging exams and describe the importance of theoretical and practical preparation of these professionals in imaging. Methods: Qualitative research, conducted through a focus group and semi-structured script, with nursing residents in orthopedics and traumatology. Data collection was recorded, transcribed and analyzed through Bardin Analysis, and categorized by the IRaMuTeQ® software, using the Descending Hierarchical Classification and Similarity. Results: there was a short age of training for nurses in reading imaging exams. Residents reported the need for this training during their training to overcome difficulties during patient care. Therefore, there is a need to include a new curricular component in the residency: Imaging in Nursing Care. Conclusion: the analysis of imaging exams by nurses is not a common approach in the scientific community, but preparation in reading images can contribute to service turnover.
