Abstract

In the current context, technological evolution has transformed the way in which processes are executed in interdisciplinary environments. Among the methodologies developed for efficient project management, Building Information Modeling (BIM) stands out, an approach that facilitates the integration of different disciplines in the planning and execution of works. This methodology has established itself as a standard in the competitiveness of projects at the international level and represents a strategic objective for many countries seeking to optimize their construction processes. One of the key areas within BIM is cost control, which allows for accurate budget management, bid preparation and financial monitoring of projects under execution. The implementation of BIM in Cuba is still in an initial phase, mainly limited to three-dimensional modeling. This situation is due to the complexity of the national budget system, which generates the need to develop methodologies and technological tools that enable the integration of BIM in the financial control mechanisms used in the country in construction projects. This study exposes the essential aspects for the design of a procedure oriented to cost management through BIM, which favors the digital transformation of processes in the construction sector in Cuba. The adoption of this methodology will contribute to the reduction of time spent on budget formulation, efficient monitoring of economic resources and financial planning of projects. It will also favor the identification of risks and the mitigation of unforeseen events, optimizing decision making in the administration of construction works.
