Abstract

South Sulawesi Province, especially Wajo Regency, currently considers corn a strategic and economically valuable commodity and has the opportunity to be developed, as the need for hybrid corn as food and feed for livestock and as industrial raw materials continues to increase, while its availability still cannot meet these needs. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the development of corn commodities in Wajo Regency and to determine a strategy to develop corn commodities to increase farmers' incomes in Wajo Regency. This study was conducted in Pammana and Sabbangparu Districts. 50 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out using regression and SWOT analysis. The results of this study indicate that factors influencing corn crop production in Wajo Regency include farmer income, land area, age, education, number of family members, and strategies that can be implemented. Corn development strategies can be implemented by increasing farmers’ incomes, expanding agricultural land, and investing in education and training.
