Abstract

This study engaged culturally diverse and migrant youth voices about their experiences and views on citizenship and global citizenship education. 33 participants aged 15-25 shared their perspectives and envisioned an education that is more inclusive of diverse cultures and knowledges. Guided by a transformative paradigm that advances social justice, this study demonstrates how youth and student voices can meaningfully participate in conversations that challenge coloniality and inspire positive social change. Their experiences, identities, and vision send a powerful and hopeful message to educators, governments and the broader community about the importance of including youth and diverse perspectives in transformative education.
