GEOLOGICAL EVOLUTION OF THE PRECARPATHIAN FOREDEEP
Abstract
The article examines the geological history of the Fore-Carpathian Trough as one of the key structures of the Alpine-Carpathian system.A comprehensive description of its geological structure, stratigraphy, and facies zonality is provided, reflecting its formation under the influence of Alpine orogeny, subduction, and accretion processes.Based on sedimentological, stratigraphic, and terrane analyses, the stages of sedimentary succession evolution and geodynamic conditions of formation are reconstructed.A clear distinction between the allochthonous (Sambir Zone) and autochthonous (Bilche-Volytsia Zone) parts of the trough is established, which is a distinctive feature of its tectonic history.A comparative analysis with similar foreland basins of the Alpide belt is conducted. The interdisciplinary approach employed allowed for a comprehensive assessment of the Fore-Carpathian Trough's place in the structure of the Carpathian orogen and its stratigraphic-facies architecture.
