Abstract

The teaching profession, long grounded in specialised expertise, ethical commitment, and public service, is undergoing an unprecedented multidimensional crisis that is structural, emotional, psychosocial, technological, and conceptual.Once viewed as a stable vocation based on deep knowledge and societal trust, teaching is now shaped by pressures arising from geopolitical turbulence, social destabilisation, rapid digital transformation, and declining working conditions. This article offers an integrative analysis of this crisis by drawing on international evidence, global policy reports [1; 2; 3], research on professional burnout, and practical experience with digital literacy, social media verification, and AI-assisted pedagogy.Central to the problem is the growing domination of teacher burnout, defined as emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation, and reduced personal accomplishment.Burnout has expanded from an individual condition to a widespread occupational threat reflecting systemic dysfunctions such as underfunding, excessive workloads, bureaucratisation, employment instability, and long-term exposure to crises including war, displacement, pandemics, and socio-political unrest. The article further examines how technological disruptions such as digital learning systems, algorithmic environments, and generative AI create cognitive overload, ethical dilemmas, and new pedagogical uncertainties.Teachers are expected not only to integrate rapidly developing technologies but also to assess the reliability, implications, and ethical use of digital content considering concerns over data privacy, academic integrity, and shifting human-machine boundaries. These pressures intensify emotional demands, requiring educators to maintain pedagogical quality, stability, and ethical responsibility in a saturated information landscape.
