PECULIARITIES OF PSYCHOEMOTIONAL MANIFESTATIONS AND THE ROLE OF ADAPTIVE COPING STRATEGIES IN IMPROVING THE LEVEL OF WELL-BEING IN MENOPAUSAL WOMEN
Abstract
Menopause is a complex biopsychosocial period in a woman's life associated with hormonal, somatic, and psychoemotional changes that significantly affect quality of life.In recent years, the proportion of women of perimenopausal age has increased, emphasizing the relevance of studying menopausal syndrome (MS) and related psychoemotional disorders. The aim of this study was to identify psychoemotional manifestations in perimenopausal women and to determine the role of adaptive coping strategies in improving their well-being.The study was conducted in 2024-2025 at the Ternopil Central District Hospital and included 56 perimenopausal women aged 41-54 years.Menopausal symptoms were assessed using the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS), anxiety and depression using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and depressive severity using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). Statistical analysis included descriptive methods and Pearson correlation analysis.Menopausal syndrome of varying severity was diagnosed in 71.4% of women.Psychoemotional disorders were detected in 33.9% of cases, with subclinical anxiety prevailing (21.4%).Depression was identified in 21.4% of patients, mainly in mild form.Significant positive correlations were found between the severity of menopausal symptoms and levels of anxiety and depression, particularly with neurovegetative and psychoemotional components of MS.Age was also positively correlated with MS severity. The findings indicate that psychoemotional disorders in perimenopause are closely associated with the severity of menopausal syndrome and have a polyetiological nature. The use of adaptive coping strategies, psychological support, lifestyle modification, and individualized medical approaches may improve emotional well-being and quality of life in perimenopausal women.
