O. TYSOVSKY’S ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF SCHOOL EDUCATION IN EASTERN GALICIA DURING THE INTERWAR PERIOD

The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of Oleksandr Tysovskyi's assessment of the level of school education in Eastern Galicia during the interwar period .The aim of the study is to highlight Tysovskyi's pedagogical and socio-political views on the state of Ukrainian schooling under conditions of limited national and cultural autonomy and the assimilation-oriented educational policy of the Polish authorities of that time.The source base of the research includes pedagogical works, journalistic writings, and programmatic texts by Oleksandr Tysovskyi, which reflect his vision of the role of school in Ukrainian society.The article analyzes the key problems of school education in Eastern Galicia emphasized by the educator, including the reduction of the network of Ukrainian schools, restrictions on the use of the Ukrainian language in the educational process, staffing difficulties, inadequate material support of educational institutions, and ideological pressure on the content of education.It is shown that Tysovskyi considered school education not only as an institution for the transmission of knowledge but also as an important factor in the formation of national consciousness, civic responsibility, and moral values of the younger generation.Special attention is paid to Tysovskyi's critical remarks on formalism in education, the detachment of schooling from the real needs of society, and the insufficient emphasis on the educational and moral dimensions of the learning process.His ideas regarding the necessity of a harmonious combination of intellectual, physical, and moral education are highlighted, as well as the active role of the teacher as an educator and a guide of national ideals.The significance of Tysovskyi's scouting (Plast) educational experience for the development of his pedagogical concepts is emphasized.
