RESILIENCE OF ONLINE EDUCATION IN UKRAINE UNDER WARTIME CONDITIONS: AN INTEGRATED FRAMEWORK FOR IMPROVEMENT
Abstract
At present, the system of higher education in Ukraine operates under conditions of a multidimensional crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war, which have profoundly transformed access to education, pedagogical approaches, and the psychosocial well-being of participants in the educational process. This article provides a systematic analysis of contemporary scholarly research and international practices aimed at developing integrated, multi-level recommendations for enhancing the resilience of online education in Ukraine during prolonged crises and post-crisis recovery. The theoretical framework of the study is grounded in interdisciplinary approaches to educational resilience, modular and adaptive pedagogical design, microcredentials, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), which are conceptualized as interconnected components of sustainable educational systems in crisis-affected contexts. The methodological basis of the study comprises a critical review of current academic publications, analysis of national and international reports, and synthesis of empirical data obtained from previous research on online learning under wartime conditions.Based on the analysis, the author proposes a five-component integrated framework for improving online education, which combines infrastructural resilience, professional development of academic staff through micro-credentials, modular and adaptive course design, hybrid models of practical training, and the integration of psychosocial support and inclusion. The framework is informed by a synthesis of international experience in implementing blended learning, modular programmes, and MHPSS in countries affected by armed conflicts and global crises. The findings confirm that the resilience of the educational process in wartime conditions can only be ensured through a comprehensive integration of infrastructural, pedagogical, and psychosocial solutions. The practical significance of the study lies in the potential application of the proposed model as a foundation for shaping a national strategy for the development of digital and hybrid higher education in Ukraine.
