INCLUSION IN U.S. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AS A COMPREHENSIVE PEDAGOGICAL SYSTEM: LEGAL, METHODOLOGICAL, AND INTERDISCIPLINARY DIMENSIONS
Abstract
This article analyzes inclusion as a multidimensional pedagogical system that integrates legal, methodological, and interdisciplinary components. It is stated that inclusive early childhood education in the United States has undergone a significant transformation over the past decades, evolving from specialized programs for children with disabilities into a comprehensive system that addresses the diverse needs of all learners. The article emphasizes the importance of teacher preparation and professional competence in the successful implementation of inclusion.Educators must be capable of adapting curriculum content and instructional methods to individual needs, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs, and applying strategies that foster children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.Interdisciplinary collaboration, including partnerships with families, psychologists, speech therapists, and early intervention specialists, is highlighted as a critical factor in promoting meaningful participation for all children. The study also addresses ongoing challenges, such as limited resources, socio-cultural barriers, and the organizational complexity of coordinating inclusive practices across multiple levels of the education system.Contemporary research indicates that comprehensive teacher training, the adoption of Universal Design for Learning principles, and systematic institutional support are essential for overcoming these obstacles.Overall, inclusive early childhood education in the U.S. demonstrates that a systemic, evidence-based, and interdisciplinary approach is necessary to ensure equitable learning opportunities, social inclusion, and positive developmental outcomes for children with SEN and their typically developing peers.
