Kakatoosiiksi’s (Star Beings)
Abstract
Kakatoosiiksi's is an artwork based on a vision and a decade of interpreting and reflecting on that vision from an ecological perspective grounded in Siksikaitsitapi ways of knowing. This interview represents the beginning of a project documenting, sharing, and exploring John Chief Calf's prolific body of work. The central themes of his philosophical and aesthetic approach emerge here, which reflect centrally on the place of the artist in the flux and the pedagogical power of art, making it an ideal introduction to his oeuvre.
