Greek L1 learn Turkish as second language
Abstract
This paper presents findings from a study at the University of Cyprus, where Turkish is taught as a second language (L2) in the Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies. The study evaluates the effectiveness of using creative writing to teach Turkish grammar by combining traditional teacher-centered methods with innovative task-based language teaching (TBLT). Results indicate that this approach enhances students’ understanding and use of Turkish grammatical markers. Additionally, a Motivation Questionnaire (MQ) completed after the lessons revealed that students preferred creative writing tasks that enabled them to actively apply the grammatical markers they learned.
