Abstract

The article presents a pedagogical reflection on the role of artificial intelligence in scientific research within the context of civilizational, technological, and cultural transformations. The discussion is grounded in contemporary challenges related to information threats, social crises, and the dynamic development of digital technologies. Particular attention is paid to the application of AI in social sciences and the humanities, especially in the areas of data source identification, collection of empirical materials, and advanced data analysis and visualization. The paper presents preliminary findings from qualitative research based on expert opinions collected among academic educators and researchers within the framework of an initiative of the Media Pedagogy Section of the Polish Academy of Sciences. On this basis, the authors argue that AI does not constitute a universal solution to the challenges faced by education and science, but rather serves as a powerful tool supporting cognitive, methodological, and organizational processes. At the same time, the article emphasizes significant ethical, epistemological, and social risks associated with the uncritical use of artificial intelligence.
