Abstract

Full name: **Mark left after removal of a mezuzah from the front door frame of the house of Szymon Kluger in Oświęcim, Poland** Originally, a door to the Kluger Family House. The door frame features a characteristic indentation left after removal of a mezuzah, which serves as a poignant prewar reminder of the Jewish presence in Oświęcim. Traditionally placed on the right-hand side doorpost of a Jewish house, a mezuzah is a small piece of parchment encased in an ornamental box. It contains a hand-written excerpt from "Shema Yisrael" (Hebrew: Hear, O Israel), a Jewish prayer and a confession of belief in one transcendent God. **For more images and furter information, visit:** https://muzea.malopolska.pl/en/objects-list/2017 Inventory number: MŻ 68 Localisation of the physical object: Auschwitz Jewish Center, Oświęcim, Poland **Digitalisation: Regional Digitalisation Lab, Małopolska Institute of Culture in Kraków, Poland; "Virtual Museums of Małopolska" project** Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
