Abstract

The globe has a round, Dutch-type base, equipped with a compass (the needle and the glass plate are missing) with the rose of the winds on the dial. The names of the directions are abbreviated, and north is marked with a fleur-de-lys. The globe's horizon is made of wood and has an octagonal shape. It is supported by four legs turned in wood. The globe is 7–9 cm wide, with each side having the length of about 20 cm. Attached to the wood is a paper layer made of four parts. It depicts the azimuth, zodiac (degrees and symbols), as well as Julian and Gregorian calendars. All the elements are given Latin names. The cardinal and intermediate directions of the world are described in German.
