Abstract

This project estimates the sensitivity of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) WAHIS-Wild surveillance system for detecting non-listed wildlife disease outbreaks. Using capture-recapture methods, we compare outbreak reports across multiple data sources (WAHIS-Wild, scientific literature, and media reports) to estimate the proportion of outbreaks detected by the surveillance system. The analysis includes both multisource capture-recapture models and singlesource regression models examining predictors of reporting sensitivity across countries and disease categories.
