Abstract

This dataset was used to generate the figures and statistics for the publication “Taller Trees Experienced Less Crown Damage During a Severe Hurricane in a Tropical Forest.” in Global Change Biology. It contains three main components: data, source code and readme files (explain each variable in data). The data include canopy height models (CHMs), digital terrain models (DTMs), digital surface models (DSMs) and image mosaics used in the study; these raster products are openly available via the G-LiHT data portal (https://gliht.gsfc.nasa.gov). Manually delineated tree crowns are also publicly accessible on Mendeley Data (http://dx.doi.org/10.17632/gfpwnpw4jk.1), while the automatically delineated crowns (AMS3D) can be obtained upon request from António Ferraz. Field inventory data are available from the corresponding authors upon reasonable request.
