Abstract
Aero/Hydro Drum v2 a Modular Ambient Flow Harvester Aero/Hydro Drum v2 is a modular, omni‑directional rotational energy harvester designed to capture ambient wind and water flow in low speed environments. It operates silently and safely without blades, electronics, or high speed components, making it ideal for urban, coastal, and off grid deployment. This version refines the internal rotor geometry, bearing stack, and seal architecture for improved torque yield and longer maintenance intervals. Materials: - Shell: Recycled 6061‑T6 aluminium or marine grade composite - Rotor: Carbon reinforced polymer or anodised aluminium - Bearings: Sealed ceramic or stainless steel (IP65–IP67 rated) - Mounts: Axle through, clamp on, or tethered hydro frame Dimensions (Medium Unit): - Outer Diameter: 420 mm - Length: 600 mm - Rotor: 6 helical fins, 35° helix angle - Axle: 20 mm stainless steel Performance (Speculative): - Wind cut in speed: 1.8 m/s - Mechanical output: 1–25 W (wind), 3–60 W (water) - Rotational speed: 30–180 rpm depending on flow conditions Use Cases: - Alloy wheels for trickle charging - Roundabouts for powering traffic lights and LED bollards - Drainage culverts and tidal zones for micro‑generation - Rooftop and balcony installations for building integrated harvesting - Off‑grid sensor and lighting support in rural infrastructure Environmental Profile: - Zero emissions, zero fuel - Wildlife safe, silent operation - Fully recyclable materials - No lubrication cycles or hazardous components Version Notes: v2 introduces improved rotor balance, upgraded seal geometry, and expanded mounting options for wheel based and hydro deployments. The wheel mounted aero drum design will become clear soon as I start releasing more specific uploads.
