Ginecología regenerativa: ¿cómo vamos hoy?
Abstract
In recent years, there have been advances and applications in regenerative gynecology that could benefit many women. Innovations in emerging, stem cell, and tissue-based technologies have led to advances in disease modeling and novel therapies for gynecological diseases. This narrative review seeks to provide an overview of the applications of regenerative gynecology and the use of energy-based technologies. A literature search was conducted in various electronic databases (CINAHL, Embase, PubMed, among others) using open-source and standardized search terms. The search period was from 2000 to 2025. A total of 65 publications were ultimately included. Regenerative gynecology combines elements of tissue engineering and molecular biology to promote the regeneration and repair of damaged tissues, cells, and organs. Regenerative gynecology applies a multidisciplinary approach to repair, regenerate, or improve the function of damaged tissues or organs. This section highlights the use of hyaluronic acid, stem cells, laser, radiofrequency, ultrasound, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and other technologies. Emerging therapies used in regenerative gynecology have shown clinical promise in a wide range of female disorders. The use of regenerative gynecology applications is promising. However, further and better epidemiological and prospective studies will be essential to exclude a possible placebo effect and better understand the mechanisms of action of the applied techniques.
